2019.10.13 – George Kittle with complete dominance had eight catches for 103 yards, and the San Francisco 49ers remained unbeaten with an overpower dominant defensive performance in a 20-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams at the LA Coliseum.

2019.08.31 – The San Francisco 49ers roster has finally been set to 53 after the team made 22 cuts ahead of Saturday’s 1 p.m. PT deadline. It’s important to remember that John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are likely to tinker with the roster as the rest of the 31 clubs begin to take shape. Also, it’s worth noting that San Francisco is No. 2 in the waiver order, so expect changes to the roster to occur in the next 24 hours. With that, here is a position-by-position breakdown of where the 49ers currently stand.

2018.09.01 – The San Francisco 49ers have whittled their roster down to an initial list of 53 players. The team made 21 cuts prior to Saturday’s 1 p.m. PT deadline. Before we dive into who made the team, it’s important to add the caveat that John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are likely to tinker with the roster throughout the weekend.

QUARTERBACK (2) Jimmy Garoppolo and C.J. Beathard; No surprises here. Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Nick Mullens (assuming he clears waivers) will be on the team’s practice squad for a second straight season.

RUNNING BACK (5) Jerick McKinnon, Matt Breida, Alfred Morris, Raheem Mostert and Kyle Juszczyk
This picture became clearer following Morris’ outstanding performance against the Indianapolis Colts during Week 3 of the preseason. There’s still plenty of intrigue in who will be active on gamedays. News coming out on Saturday of a potential serious knee injury to McKinnon really shakes things up. The team’s starting running back went down “cutting on air,” per Shanahan. If an MRI reveals the worst case scenario, the 49ers could be in the market to add a running back over the next few days. “We’re nervous about it for sure,” Shanahan said.
Regardless, it’s safe to assume that Morris and Breida will be carrying the load out of the backfield for the 49ers to open the season.

WIDE RECEIVER (6)

WIDE RECEIVER (6) Pierre Garçon, Marquise Goodwin, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis, Kendrick Bourne and Richie James.  We thought that there was a chance the 49ers would keep seven receivers, but the team ultimately decided that keeping Aaron Burbridge solely for special teams was a luxury it couldn’t afford. The 49ers also have four weeks before they make a decision on Victor Bolden, who will begin the season on the NFL’s Suspended List.

TIGHT END (3) Garrett Celek, George Kittle and Cole Wick; The news here is that Wick beat out Cole Hikutini for the third tight end spot. All three are likely to be active on gameday.

OFFENSIVE LINE (9)

OFFENSIVE LINE (9) Joe Staley, Laken Tomlinson, Weston Richburg, Mike Person, Mike McGlinchey, Joshua Garnett, Erik Magnuson, Garry Gilliam and Shon Coleman; Cutting Jonathan Cooper means that Magnuson’s hamstring likely won’t keep him out for much (if any) of the regular season. Shanahan said that the goal is to have five inside guys and four outside linemen. The trade for Coleman got the 49ers to that quota.

DEFENSIVE LINE (9)

DEFENSIVE LINE (9) DeForest Buckner, Arik Armstead, D.J. Jones, Earl Mitchell, Solomon Thomas, Cassius Marsh, Ronald Blair, Sheldon Day and Jullian Taylor; Cutting Jeremiah Attaochu may have been the biggest surprise of the day. Attaochu was expected to play a major role in the 49ers pass rush in 2018. John Lynch said that various injuries to Attaochu didn’t give the 49ers enough opportunities to adequately evaluate the defensive lineman. Blair’s versatility and strong performance in the preseason finale is likely what locked up his roster spot.

LINEBACKER (6)

LINEBACKER (6) Fred Warner, Malcolm Smith, Brock Coyle, Elijah Lee, Mark Nzeocha and Dekoda Watson; This list is as expected. Reuben Foster moved to the NFL’s Suspended List on Saturday and will be back in Week 3.

2018.08.25 – Five of QB Jimmy Garoppolo’s passes were dropped, including a potential touchdown strike to his tight end. Garoppolo didn’t gripe about it at all after the 23-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, instead he took the heat off his stone-hand receivers by blaming himself for not zipping it on to the numbers.

Assuming runnining backs McKinnon and Breida are healthy come the regular season, Morris will have to offer something different, and short-yardage situations could be his ticket to the 53 roster.

The lone drive for the first-team offense ended in a punt, but Garoppolo did have two third-down completions to move the chains. His longest completion was an 18-yarder to Marquise Goodwin. 2017.11.12 –  C.J. Beathard threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a third score to lead the San Francisco 49ers to their first win of the season with a 31-21 victory over the New York Giants.

2017.11.05 – C.J. Beathard took bone-shattering vicious hits, 16 hits to be exact and sacked four times. 49ers fall to 0-9 with a 20-10 defeat to the Cardinals at Levi’s stadium in Santa Clara.

2017.10.30 – The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a trade with the New England Patriots to acquire QB Jimmy Garoppolo in exchange for San Francisco’s 2018 second round draft pick.

2017.10.29 – C.J. Beathard survived his first road start as the 49ers quarterback. He took four sacks and several brutal hits, including a clothesline chop to his neck. The Philadelphia Eagles rout the San Francisco 49ers 33-10, dropping to 0-8 for the first time in franchise history.

2017.10.22 – Full halftime ceremony with ’81 Super Bowl Championship team honoring the career of Dwight Clark including an introduction from Joe Montana.

2017.10.22 – C.J. Beathard got a rude welcome in his first start in the NFL. Beathard was battered all game by the blitzing Dallas Cowboys, getting sacked five times and knocked down several more in a 40-10 loss at Levi’s Stadium.

2017.10.15 – As Redskins jumped out to a 17-0 to lead the first half, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan decided to make a change at quarterback and benched Brian Hoyer.  A fresh C.J. Beathard jump-started the San Francisco offense to the tune of 17 unanswered points. The Washington Redskins ultimately went on to win the game 26-24.

2017.10.08 – For the second consecutive week, the San Francisco 49ers went to overtime. And again the 49ers lost in gut-wrenching fashion. Adam Vinatieri’s walk-off, 51-yard field goal gave the Indianapolis Colts a 26-23 win in Week 5.

2017.10.01 – Brian Hoyer finished 24-for-49 for 234 yards with 0 TD and 1 INT and a 54.3 passer rating. His skittishness in the pocket and overall inconsistent accuracy helped prevent the 49ers from earning their first win of the Kyle Shanahan era. 49ers suffer loss to the Cardinals in Over Time 18-15.

2017.09.21 – The San Francisco 49ers fell to 0-3 on the season following a 41-39 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on “Thursday Night Football”. 49ers nearly overcomes a nightmare start, but the comeback shootout fell just short at Levi’s Stadium.

2017.09.17 – The 49ers gave the Seahawks a scare, but dropped their second straight game with a narrow, 12-9 loss to Seattle at CenturyLink Field.  San Francisco took a 9-6 lead in the fourth quarter, but with 4 minutes left, a TD from Russell Wilson regained the Seattle’s lead for good.

Kyle Shanahan’s head coaching debut with San Francisco ruined. The 49ers have a different quarterback, a new roster of player and a fountain of youth, but all of that wasn’t enough to create a fresh result, as the San Francisco 49ers fall to the Carolina Panthers 23-3 final.

(Game #4 pre-season) The San Francisco 49ers closed out the preseason with a 23-13 win against the Los Angeles Chargers at Levi’s® Stadium. The 49ers sat nearly all of the team’s starters. That gave San Francisco’s rookies and bubble players a final chance to make their case for a roster spot.

(Game #3 pre-season) Brian Hoyer had command of the offense throwing pinpoint passes, including a dazzling 46-yard bomb to speedster Marquise Goodwin. The 49ers QB finished the day with 12-for-17 for 176 yards and two touchdowns. But, the 49ers lose in last second to the Vikings 32-31.

Eric Reid #35 was kneeling during the national anthem. Reid is resuming Colin Kaepernick’s protest, and told PR staff prior to game and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan – who has “no issue” with it.
